Are you going to “Summit” the Apex of Threats, Risks, and Restoration Facing Your Business, Community or Institution?
Don’t stall at a base camp!
In review of the past 15 years of domestic terrorism, workplace violence, and other events that have ended in loss of lives, permanent injuries, irreversible reputation ruin, and unacceptable financial consequences the final question is “who is on top?” Borrowing from the analogy of mountain climbing, we have been climbing the mountain for over 15 years since 911. There have been vast changes in the weather that has stalled us along the climb at various base camps. As we ascend the air gets thinner and the challenge more ponderous. But, we cannot reach a plateau and let our progress “stall at a base camp.” If you stay there too long the environment will wear you down, you will run out of resources, and become a casualty. You will become a frozen memorial that will remind other climbers that pass by of the critical importance of persistence. Often, we forget while in the midst of the struggle why we began the climb, and that is to summit the peak.
Are we failing to meet the challenge? Are we “on top” of the safety and security threat or are we being dominated by it? Do Americans feel any safer? The Washington Post published on August 22, 2016 that Chicago Council on Global Affairs polling data gives us a resoundingly clear answer. NO, Americans do not feel safer and seem to have little hope that things will change anytime soon. Americans are a savvy people. The politicians and talking heads truly believe that if they say something often enough, and get support from the mainstream media Americans will buy it. We know better. All of the post tragedy memorials, speeches, and rhetoric will not keep us safe.
Comprehensive offensive and defensive action has and always will be the answer to protecting our culture, country, and families. It is a “We the People” proposition. In 1787 when the Constitution was drafted, a woman asked Ben Franklin if the founders had given the American people a monarchy or a republic. “A republic” he replied and challenged, “if you can keep it.” In a monarchy the people need not think or act because they are moved like sheep at the monarch’s whim. Contrary to a republic where the people rule themselves taking responsibility and action as necessary to preserve their freedom, a monarchy prefers a people who live mindlessly and lazily awaiting the next controlling edict from the government. Michael McCall, Chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee wrote in his book, “Failures of Imagination” that, “we should expect our own government to be honest with us. Too often the Obama administration has downplayed the threats we face as a nation. The president has spread a false narrative based on distorted intelligence for cynical political purposes. The American people deserve to know the truth…” Here is a naked fact. The government is not going to protect your business, organization, institution, community, or home. Law enforcement will not act until a crime is committed. Protection is your business and so it should be.
Do something about it!
In cooperation with world-class contributors, USSARM, LLC has developed the “Summit Safety and Security Process.” The process brings to bear on the problem of protection and recovery over 300 years of collective global safety and security experience. Notice, I do not use the term “program.” A program is static and terminable. These “programs” once in place, take on a rigid programmed rigor mortis unable to adapt to new challenges or stimulus. A process is not lifeless. It has sustainability and dexterity. It proceeds uninterrupted and unbroken in the face of unfamiliar circumstances. A well- developed process keeps you on “the pivot foot.” Our contributors have a comprehensive repertoire of physical security, asset balance protection, platform development, cyber security, response, and recovery expertise second to none. They come from military, government, and private sector industries both national and international.
The tetrahedron that comprises “Summit” is prevention science, response capability, and planned recovery. Many safety and security programs, platforms, and systems are concentrated on only one or two of the above requirements that keep you “on top” of catastrophic failures. Those efforts are not integrated properly and do not function synergistically to support each factor (thus a tetrahedron, three fundamentals plus the integration). Our process is developmental and organic in the respect that we do not deliver rote and formulaic software programs, written policies, or guidance documents. We are truly consultants that do the “hard labor of thinking” and build your process onsite while interacting with shareholders. The results are a comprehensive protection and recovery method peculiar to your interests. We use a “definite purpose” approach. Our process is applicable to high-risk businesses, communities, schools, and institutions.
